Scanner privacy policy

This policy explains what the Scanner app does with your data, in plain words.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

1. Who we are

This policy covers the Scanner app for Android (package com.cybs.scanner), available on Google Play. It is made by Cybs Innovations, Main Road, Near KBC Building, Champa, Chhattisgarh 495671, India.

Email: info@cybsinnovations.com · Phone: +91 76971 34405

There is no sign-up and no account. We do not run our own servers for this app. Data leaves your phone only through the outside services listed in section 4.

2. Phone permissions

  • Camera: asked only when you start a scan, to photograph documents and ID cards in the app.
  • Storage: on Android 10 and older only, to save exported PDFs and images to your Downloads folder. Newer phones need no permission for this.
  • Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network and Google Analytics for Firebase, described below.

3. What stays on your phone

  • Your documents: scanned pages, PDFs, notes, signatures and watermarks.
  • Photos you import. Scanner uses Android's photo picker, so it gets only the photos you choose.
  • Text read from your scans and the contents of QR codes you scan, shown only to you.
  • Your settings: theme, view and sort order.
  • PDFs and images you export, in your Downloads folder.

4. Outside services

  • Google ML Kit: Smart Scan and Scan QR use Google's scanners from Google Play services, and the text reader uses Google ML Kit. All of them run on your phone. Your images are not sent to Google or to us. Google ML Kit privacy.
  • Google AdMob: shows banners, native ads and full screen ads, with at most one full screen ad every 90 seconds. AdMob may use your phone's advertising ID, your IP address (which gives a rough location), ad views and taps, and basic device and crash data to show ads, count them and stop fraud. Where the law asks for it, for example in the EEA and the UK, Scanner asks for your consent with Google's consent form before ads are shown. You can change your answer from Privacy choices in the side menu. AdMob does not receive your documents. Google AdMob privacy.
  • Meta Audience Network: an ad network that can offer ads through AdMob. It receives the same kind of data as AdMob, only to show and count ads. Meta Audience Network privacy.
  • Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring: count how the app is used, such as app opens, screens viewed, and when a document is saved, a PDF is made, text is read or a QR code is scanned. We record only counts and kinds, such as the number of pages, never document content, file names or text. Crashlytics sends a report if the app crashes or freezes, with the device model, Android version, the screen that was open and the last few app events. Performance Monitoring sends timing data, such as how long the app takes to start. Firebase uses an app instance ID and your rough location from your IP address. Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring privacy.
  • Google Play In-App Review: the app may ask, through Google Play, if you would like to rate it. Google Play handles this, and we never see your Google account.

We do not sell personal data.

When you tap Share, the file goes only to the app you pick, such as email, WhatsApp or Drive. That app's own privacy policy then applies.

You can protect an exported PDF with a password.

If Android backup is on for your phone, Android may include Scanner's settings in your phone's backup to your Google account. Your documents are not part of that backup. When you move to a new phone with Android's phone to phone transfer, your documents can move with it.

Firebase keeps analytics data for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days.

Scanner includes OneSignal, a push notification service, but it is turned off and receives nothing. If we turn it on in a later version, we will update this policy.

Scanner has no in-app purchases and no sign-in.

5. Children

Scanner is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

6. Deleting your data

  • Delete documents or pages in the app at any time.
  • Delete exported files from your Downloads folder.
  • Uninstall Scanner, or clear its storage in Android settings, to remove all its documents and settings.
  • To reset or delete your advertising ID, open your phone's Settings, then Google, then Ads.
  • To ask us to delete analytics or crash data linked to your copy of the app, email us.

For anything else, see app help and support or email us. We reply within 7 working days.

7. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and laws like it where you live, you can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and complain to us or to your data protection authority. Email info@cybsinnovations.com.

8. Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, we update this page and the date at the top. The privacy policy for our website is separate: website privacy policy.
