Smart SMS privacy policy

1. Who we are

This policy covers the Smart SMS app for Android (package com.cybs.messages), available on Google Play. It is made by Cybs Innovations, Main Road, Near KBC Building, Champa, Chhattisgarh 495671, India.

There is no sign-up and no account. We do not run our own servers for this app. Data leaves your phone only through the outside services listed in section 4.

2. Phone permissions

• SMS and MMS: to send, receive and show your text and picture messages. Android asks you to make Smart SMS your default SMS app.
• Contacts: to show names instead of numbers, and to pick who to message.
• Phone state: to work with phones that have two SIM cards.
• Phone calls: to call someone from a chat or a notification when you tap call.
• Microphone: only to record a voice message, when you tap record.
• Photos, videos and audio: to attach files to messages, and to save and open backup files.
• Notifications: to tell you about new messages.
• Alarms and start up: to send scheduled messages at the right time, also after a restart.

3. What stays on your phone

• Your messages, in Android's own message store, which every SMS app on the phone shares.
• The app's own database: scheduled messages, blocked numbers and reactions.
• Backup files you make, in the folder you choose.
• Your settings.
• A debug log file in your Downloads folder, only if you turn on logging in settings.

4. Outside services

• Google AdMob: shows ads: a full screen ad when you open the app and after you send a message (limited to a few per session), and ads in your chat list. AdMob may use your phone's advertising ID, your IP address (which gives a rough location), ad views and taps, and basic device and crash data to show ads, count them and stop fraud. AdMob does not receive your messages or contacts. Google AdMob privacy.
• Your mobile network: carries your text and picture messages, as it does for any SMS app.

We do not sell personal data.

Smart SMS is left out of Android cloud backup, so the app never copies your messages to Google. Use the backup feature to move them to a new phone.

Reading a message aloud uses your phone's own text to speech engine.

5. Children

Smart SMS is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

6. Deleting your data

• Delete messages or whole chats in the app at any time.
• Delete backup files from the folder where you saved them.
• Uninstall the app, or clear its storage in Android settings, to remove its database and settings. Messages in Android's shared message store stay until you delete them, because other SMS apps use that store too.
• To reset or delete your advertising ID, open your phone's Settings, then Google, then Ads.

7. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and laws like it where you live, you can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and complain to us or to your data protection authority. Email info@cybsinnovations.com.

8. Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, we update this page and the date at the top. The privacy policy for our website is separate: website privacy policy.
